What to do in the event of a loss (claim):
Auto Losses
- Make no comment or statement about the accident to anyone other than police or a representative of your insurance company.
- Report loss to your insurance carrier promptly.
- Collect the following information about all other parties involved: name, address, home and work phone numbers, cell phone number, email address, type of auto or property damaged, insurance carrier, insurance agent, and policy number.
- Collect contact information (name, address, phone numbers, email addresses) for any witnesses.
- Take steps to prevent further damage to insured property.
- If possible, take photos of damage.
- Make notes about exactly what happened, any conversations that take place, etc. Memories are not always reliable, particularly after a stressful incident, and these notes will be very helpful when discussing your claim with an adjuster.
- Make a file and keep all important, claim-related documents (such as accident reports, receipts/estimates for repairs, inventory of damaged property) inside.
Property (Homeowners, Dwelling Fire, Mobile Homeowners, Commercial Property Losses
- Report loss to your insurance carrier promptly.
- Take steps to prevent further damage to insured property.
- If possible, take photos of damage to covered property (including buildings, contents, etc.).

- Complete an Employer’s First Report of Accident/Injury form.
- Report loss to your insurance carrier promptly.
- Collect contact information (name, address, phone numbers, email addresses) for any witnesses.
- Make a file and keep all important, claim-related documents (such as accident reports, copies of medical bills, payroll records, etc.) inside.
